Ashley Graham: The SUPER-ROLE Model

REVAMPING THE FASHION INDUSTRY

A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty & Power Really Look Like, Ashley proves with optimism, perseverance and faith you can gather the strength to take hold of what you want. Only you set the limitations to the things you can and cannot have, take responsibility and go for what you want. Once Graham realized she couldn’t control the things out of her reach thats when all her dreams became real, some bigger than what she imagined.

Graham was told to stick to catalog modeling because she wasn’t editorial enough to be a cover girl. She proved the industry wrong, she is making history by being the first curvy model featured on Sports Illustrated and Vogue. You can see this groundbreaking model’s face on other covers  such as: Stylist, Cosmopolitan, Elle Québec, British Vogue, Self Harper’s Bazaar and many others.

A New Model is riveting and provides deep info about how to break your own barriers and discover true confidence. Graham focuses on positive body image and loving yourself as you were born. Her confidence is super contagious and motivating for us all this swimsuit season. Don’t freak out about not losing those extra five pounds before you hit the beaches of Australia, Caribbean Islands or the streets of Los Angeles, own it. Love yourself and don’t be afraid to highlight favorite parts of your body because when you feel good you look good.

“If there is something about you that you like, show it off”, says Graham

The body activist is about empowering women around the world to not change themselves but to feel more comfortable in their skin. Acknowledging that comfort translates to confidence and high self-esteem sends positive vibes to others.“If you think you look good, others will too”, says Graham.

NORMALIZING THE STANDARDS OF BEAUTY

Owning her body and every beautiful cellulite bump and stretch mark, she recently posed nude for the first time in V MagazinePhotographer Mario Sorrenti captured Graham in artistic poses for the editorial shoot. In an interview for the magazine she revealed she hit rock bottom around the age 18, trying to live the standards of a model. She was disgusted with herself but her mother told her don’t give up, your body will change someone’s life

Graham wants to normalize what sometimes the industry continues to haunt the everyday woman about, cellulite. No matter your size most women have a percentage of cellulite. In fact, Women’s Health Magazine states cellulite is not fat and on average 90% women have cellulite. So if everyone has it why be ashamed? It’s models like Graham who fearlessly flaunt their bodies encouraging the average woman to say, “Hey, she looks like me and she is beautiful”. What makes Graham beautiful is her confidence. The power she has over her life by not letting negative opinions about her appearance ruin or shape her beauty.

AN AU-NATURAL EVERYDAY WOMAN

Graham is not just a curvaceous model but a representation for all women struggling to fit into society’s guidelines of beauty by identifying and relating to the everyday woman. The difference Graham made is by declaring she is beautiful and setting up her own rules. Normal Is Beautiful. With the motivation from A New Model, wear your red bikini or floral print one-piece and show off your unique figure. Walk proud and own it.

I find A New Model inspiring because of Graham’s honesty and devotion to changing the standards of fashion. She embodies everything I write about in my blog, the promotion of self-love and body positivity, which is why I describe her as a SUPER-ROLE MODEL. We should embrace and encourage one another to flaunt our assets and feel good about our bodies. Who is your favorite Super-Role model in the industry?
