Make A Statement: Peter Mitchell

Welcome to my new male blogger series: #StealHisStlye, which features interviews with some of my favorite fashion male bloggers who effortlessly add their sauce to the fashion industry. These bloggers are game changers and it’s time to give them the spotlight. Iconic and eclectic style is derived from numerous sources, let’s get inspired!  #StealHisStlye will show the evolution and diversity of male fashion and latest trends by trendsetter bloggers.

Peter Mitchell from I’m Peter style is urban simplistic, giving a whole new meaning to casual and laid back. He takes denim, white tees, bomber jackets and sneakers to an entirely new level. Peter introduces us to basic pieces and makes one item the statement, which sets his look apart from the rest. I recently had the chance to interview Peter about his style and here is what he had to say:

Natonya: Hometown?

Peter: Aberdeen, Scotland

Natonya: Why did you start fashion blogging?

Peter Mitchell: It’s something that I’ve always had an interest in so I thought I would marry up my two passions for the internet and high street fashion and I guess that’s how the blog was born.

natonya: Describe your go-to look.

Peter Mitchell: My go to look is definitely jeans, t-shirt, white tennis shoes and a bomber jacket or hoodie. I much prefer going for the casual look than smart casual although I think I’d like to experiment a bit more.

natonya: What is your definition of fashion?

Peter Mitchell: To me fashion is feeling confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing whilst giving people a quick glimpse into your personality through how you dress.

natonya: Five words to describe your style.

Peter Mitchell: Affordable, Casual, Layered, Basic, Neutrals.

natonya: Who or where do you get fashion inspo?

Peter Mitchell: To be honest, I take inspiration from a lot of places, but ultimately I know what I like and what I don’t so usually if I’m shopping I’ll pick out pieces I like and make up a style from that.

natonya: Favorite designers/stores/brands.

Peter Mitchell: I love Zara. Everything in there at the moment is really catching my eye. Favourite footwear is definitely Adidas Originals.

natonya: Can’t walk out the door without wearing?

Peter Mitchell: A hat! It’s a comfort thing more than anything I think, but it’s part of my style.

natonya: What advice do you give someone trying to discover his or her style?

Peter Mitchell: I’d say to find style inspirations that you like the look of and go try stuff on in stores. Take risks every once in a while and push your comfort levels one step at a time.

natonya: What changes would you like to see in the fashion industry?

Peter Mitchell: I’d love to see more variety in menswear. On the high street, there’s a noticeable difference in department sizes between male and female departments and a lot more variety in womenswear. I would love to see a larger offering of styles, patterns, cuts to really let people find their own personal style.

    1. Thanks Charlene! Yea, I’m starting a new series giving men fashion bloggers the spotlight for once. Peter is super kind and it was so cool to learn more about his taste in fashion 🙂

  4. This is a great series, there doesn’t tend to be as much coverage of men’s style in the blogging community so this was a great read. Also, that bomber jacket is so dreamy, would love to find something similar for my wardrobe!

I really like Peter’s style. I would even get the New York 1990 shirt for myself (or my imaginary boyfriend). I definitely agree with him that there needs to be more variety in menswear. Whenever I go into stores, it’s clear that clothes for women take up a huge amount of shelf space. It’s nice to see men taking an interest in fashion too! Cool series!
